St. Eloi started with a simple problem in a new home.

We're a family of five living on the Matakana Coast, and a few years back we built our first house. It had an indoor fireplace — something we'd looked forward to for a long time. When the first load of firewood got delivered we went looking for a way to store it that looked considered and had some real visual presence — not just functional, but a piece that would stand out. We wanted a feature piece, something that would hold the wood and hold its own in our new home.

We couldn't find one. Plenty of wood stackers were purely functional, and a few were decorative, but nothing struck the right balance of design and quality that we were after. So we decided to make our own.

That first stacker became the starting point for St. Eloi. We built it in Corten Steel, chosen for the way it weathers over time and for its strength, and now every piece is designed and made right here in New Zealand on the Matakana Coast.

So what began as a solution to our own problem has grown into a small range of wood stackers for other peoples homes and fireplaces. We're still guided by the same idea we started with: a wood stacker should be both beautiful and functional and made to stand the test of time.
